Inspection of compliance with CITES

Biosecurity offices are sometimes required to examine goods that are exported for compliance with CITES certification issued by other government departments. The extent of this involvement depends on local arrangements but is normally restricted to examination of the goods and an audit of compliance, with documentation issued by the department responsible for environmental issues or wildlife.
