Inspection of empty air cargo containers

Generally, air cargo containers are unpacked in the bond store to enable the consignments to be inspected/cleared.

The container presents a pathway by which pests may enter. They therefore require clearance and release before they can be used for export of other commodities or goods.

8 If contamination is found, seize the container and have it removed to a safe place for cleaning.Collect specimens for identification.
9 Re-inspect after cleaning and complete the documentation for the phytosanitary procedure.
